The end of the world
Supine:
Failing to act as a result
Of moral weakness
On strand or shore or tide,
No more morning dew
No where left to hide,
Trying to stay alive
At this end-of-the-world,
Beaches spray luminescence
Onto bodies which are hostages
To a fortune gone bad:
In this meat-heat abattoir:
Elephants butchered alive for ivory
Baby monkeys skinned alive - for bush meat.
Abominations abound
In this best of all possible worlds:.
Tearing down thousand year old trees
For furniture for the rich
Children poorer than the rocks and trees
Stand to serve the rich farangs
With their peculiar tastes and their hard hands
At this end of the world
Bioda Roe king of the sea is dead
Poisoned by plastic and human shit
A relative to the seal, she cried as he died.
There are no more rhinos no eagles no deer
Just bits of technology
That make us even more stupid.
Shadows are banned, as are corners
All must be clear, laid waste in this time of fear,
Madam Famine lurks in the wings
The more we seek to protect our children
From their 'inheritance'
The more we endanger them
They must be hard as nails
In the near future:
No more morning dew,
No more animals
Deserts spreading, seas rising
No more quiet places.
Just billions and billions of us.

How true, unfortunately. We have been saying this, more or less, for the past 20 years, but our politicians are only interested in short term solutions, and those which get them voted back into power. None of them seem to have any intention of trying to stop or at least reduce the damage. The farangs and the children make me sick to the stomach.
