An Act of Crime
An Act of Crime
Preamble
Pictured is the house under threat
An act of crime will soon be
Committed in my town
A home with so much history
Was sold. Be soon knocked down
Our advocates of heritage
Enraged, say all along
Such a bad decision shows
The system is all wrong
The property's not listed
And there's the fatal flaw
Council says six units? Great!
Gives us money. More
The Government does the bidding
Of volume-building firms
Who don't care about history
And say “Not my concern”
The home they expect it will be razed
Turned into flats (more rates)
But hopefully this act of crime
Initiates debate
I've said this many times before
Money trumps the lot
I'm disappointed, angry, sad
People don't give a jot

A now all too familiar town in many towns and Cities across the globe regardless of artistic allure or being sympathy with the environment or locality.
