"ALL LIES AND JEST"

entry picture

(I cannot, in truth, blame Boris.  He is a liar.  Everyone knows he lies.  He lied about Brexit.  Everyone knows he lied about Brexit.  But no-one who voted for Brexit accepts they were lied to.  Or, if they do, they don't care.  And that is far worse).

I am Boris Johnson; now my story shall be told;

I have plundered an existence, positioning myself to my advantage;

“All lies and jest”;

Still you pricks hear what you want to hear and disregard the rest,

Denying any part in Britain’s mess.

On the rostrum stands a joker and a liar by his trade

And he’s made his reputation

On bumbling and endearing daft tomfoolery;

A harmless tool;

But he knew what he was doing as he played you all for fools,

So it’s you as well as him I ridicule.

“I was once a European advocating we must stay

Then I saw that my advancement

Was better served by leaving from the Union;

I quickly sussed

That a lie about saved millions and then painted on a bus

Would enhance the chance of victory for us.

Lie lie lie; yes, I knew it was a lie;

Lie lie lie; our campaign was nothing more than lie on lie.

And, of course, the Turks were coming and we said the new trade deals

Were the easiest in history

But look around – you’ll see that still we’ve got none;

I do declare!

I had doubts that you’d be gullible enough to even care

But sense among Leave voters was so rare!

Then Blessed Day!

When my plan all came together with the fall of Mrs May

And the Labour Party all in disarray.

I await my coronation as their leader and PM

Achieved without a single thought or policy inside my noddle,

Just “lies and jest”;

Yes, you pricks heard what you want to hear

Despite the glaring proof;

I always knew you’d disregard the truth.

Lies and lies; lies and lies and lies and lies;

Lies and lies; lies and lies and lies and lies.

Lies and lies etc.

“About time”, MC? Not at all. Your comments are always welcome no matter how much I disagree with them.
I find it amusing that a number of WOL contributors (and FB chums) no longer comment on my stuff following disagreements. Amusing because, by and large, they would see themselves (as I do) as liberal thinkers. It seems their liberalism doesn’t extend to being comfortable with diversity.

JC - a final word from me (do I hear you say "about time"?).
From the time when a certain Ted Heath assured us that there would
be no loss of parliamentary sovereignty in what he was pursuing, to
the successive treaties signed up to by UK prime ministers that
tied us ever closer to the EU (without any referral to/mandate from
the public) and the 3 year delay created by Remainer May's
to-ing and fro-ing seeking a "withdrawal agreement" (dancing the
EU Tango!), a barely disguised effort to weary the country into
submission, we have witnessed something deeply worrying about
the state of democracy as it has been interpreted (subverted?) by the political establishment and its supporters - with the notable
exception of those whom the unlamented John Major called "bastards" when they objected to what was going on. Well,
the wheel has turned and while "project fear" is still in full flow, we
need only hold our nerve - if this country still has that quality!

There’s really only one way to find out if this sentiment still holds with the public, 3 years on from when it was taken, MC. You may still be right. Or you may not. The reluctance of Leavers to prove their case implies to me that they fear the latter.

JC - I'm only too aware of when I am being deceived/lied to,
hence my determination to bring to attention the activities of
who led this nation into being shackled to a political power-driven
entity allowed to take precedence over our parliamentary sovereignty (now being bandied about as some corrupted reason adopted by various occupants of Parliament to thwart our departure from the EU). The lies you refer to appear to target the sum on
the Brexit bus...still argued about: some saying it's less...some
saying it's actually more. In point of fact, it can't be denied that the
UK is a very substantial contributor to the EU - an organisation that
seems resistant to proper examination of its accounts (which, of
course, includes our money!) and threatens members who go
public with penalties/loss of generous pensions etc. etc. for
their temerity in publicising the less than democratic basis for
its existence and activities.
Remainers may wish to continue to cavort to its tune! The rest of us are happy to ignore the invitation to the dance. ?

Many thanks for your thoughts, Don and MC.
It seems you fall into the camp of those that don’t care you were lied to, MC.

All politicians tell lies it seems,
Relying on our hopes and dreams;
Successive PMs did the same
Treating truth as a fool's own game
Giving parliament's sovereignty
Away with no mandate we could see ,
And now "sovereignty" appears in use
To defy what the voting majority choose,
Like some fool's gold its new minted wealth
Now pays for the years of deceit and stealth. ?
