Watch out! There’s a Thesaurus About!

entry picture

Diplodocus blunders through the swamp

He’s munching moss and singing to himself

He’s humming cos he doesn’t know the words

Diplodocus is a little thick.

Tyrannosaurus boxes through the trees

Punching the branches biff biff boff!

Grunting and puffing

Tyrannosaurus is a street-wise dude.

But even he admits he’s getting on a bit.

Stegosaurus daydreams in the shallows.

Her armour makes her feel invincible.

She doesn’t have to try.

She lets it all go by.

They’re friends, nodding acquaintances.

But there’s this new kid on the block.

Here comes young Thesaurus!

Trotting through the trees

with his over-confident gait.

“Hello guys!” Diplodocus says “How’s it hangin’?”

“Fine” says Tyrannosaurus

“Great” says Stegosuarus.

“Excellent, outstanding, exceptional, first-class, ticketty boo, splendid, exquisite, handsome, nice, lovely, spot-on, faberoonie, brilliant, choice, stunningly good, sound, hale and hearty, on form, tip top, wowzer, top notch, splendid-o, fanbloodytastic, spiffing, out of this world, lovely, one sandwich better than a picnic, mind blowing, top hole, vunderba, exceptional, goodygoodgood,” says Thesaurus.

“We're leavin’ town!” say all the others!

Super, Ann. Clever and funny, full of clear sound and sight. Take Chris' advice.

So THAT'S what happened to the dinosaurs! Tongue-tied and lost for words ... Good fun, Ann!

I had the idea for this as a children's poem, leaving the last bit blank so they could add their own words for "good" or whatever.
