dogbo

entry picture

my dog's got an asbo

but 'e didn't mean no 'arm

'e was only playin

when 'e chomped off your arm

'e was only teasin

an' tryin to have a laugh

'e didn't really mean it

when 'e bit your kid in 'alf

an 'e was only jokin

when 'e tore off your dog's 'ead

i know 'e's very sorry

that the sweet chiwawa's dead

and anyway, it's all your fault

so don't get in a stew

i know 'e only did it

cos he was so scared of you!

Well written Ann and raising a very valid point. The stats are frightening - anyone know UK ones - here are those for the USA - http://www.dogbitelaw.com/PAGES/statistics.html

Dogs can be a lot of fun and they often seem connected to people in spooky ways, but what would aliens make of the figures? If humanity ever manages to travel between the stars, what would we make of a race that tolerated these sort of attack and death stats from their little green pets?

Owners get me when their evilly adjusted dogs come to attack my softy (female) Spaniel, that their sweet doggy has never acted like this before MMmmmmm let me think about that !!

What I can't stand is when dog owners tell me it is because I am scared of their dog that it is getting all snarly and growling. It is my fault. It never does it to anyone else. It can tell I don't like it. But I would like it if it wasn't trying to bite me! I love all animals, except monkeys which give me the creeps. Too human!

It's the dog owners who, when you look at their pet with distaste, say: "He's only playing/being friendly" when it's trying to nibble at your ankle that get me. I suppose most people are either dog people or cat people. I saw the hoodies on the telly in that park in Liverpool last night. But maybe you're right, Ann: we should try harder to see it from the dog's point of view!

Pam Ayres comes to mind in this little ditty. Chihuahua needs changing though.
