Save your poem

entry picture

This is about when you get the feeling you've got a poem forming in your mind, then you just leave it thinking it'll be no good, and later think you should have given it a chance to develop...Anyone else ever get that feeling?

A snapshot in time

Can be captured in words

Sometimes sublime

Or completely absurd

Emotion that longed

To be known, in a stance

A soul's way of shouting

Give your poem

A chance

Shit! I got a poem
Forming in my mind
Gotta go and write it down
But I'm in a bind....

The poem forming in my mind's
Right now. I'm on the loo
Quite by the time I've finished here
Poem will have gone, gone, flew

I wrote a draft one on paper months ago. Off-beat, way-out. WOLers will think you're off your rocker. So what did I do? Binned it. Now in a further stage of off-rockerness I think shit! I need to work on that again. Become WOL's Poet Laureate in Off-Rockerness? (Go back to bed Don...)

Good Idea Adam I am going to start doing voice memos! For now since I found this site it looks like a good place to quickly keep a poem and maybe see what others think at the same time.

It has taken me forever to just know that i will lose it and no matter what pull out my phone and do a quick voice memo. Thats the only chance my poem had.

Oh yes, all the time, and a lot of poetry comes at an inconvenient time as well. I try to memorize the first two to four lines. Forget about the rest. Repeat them over and over while driving or working or whatever until I can get to a position where I can let the rest of the poem surprise me.

I loved the line a snapshot in time and also showing the blank page had been torn away.
