Hearts are

such fragile things

so easily broken

so hard to repair

 

it does not take much

to wound a heart

an unkind word

a passing glance

 

of all the organs

in the human body

only the heart

feels emotion

 

and bleeds

when not returned

the love

it gave to another

 

why is the heart

so delicate

why is it worn on

our sleeves

 

a heart fears rejection

expecting love

that is given

will get love in return.
