Daffodils and Snowdrops
Daffodils in fancy collars
introduce Spring with a
fanfare of golden trumpets.
Tall and majestic,
they nod a greeting to
the Snowdrops.
The Snowdrops are timid,
not quite meeting the gaze
of the regal yellow blooms.
Trembling delicately
in the breeze they
huddle together for comfort.
The Daffodils are conceited,
They understand
their own significance.
They are humiliated
when, cut and arranged,
looking through the window
They see the Snowdrops
Standing tall and proud.
