Rose
A small, soft rose
petals shining in the sun
beautiful green leaves
but thorns strong and vengeful
you have no idea
of the horrors that await
only a few months away
in the dead of winter
but when spring comes again
so do you
your petals grow back
your dead thorns grow alive
so continues the circle
that encompasses life
you live, you suffer, you live
but yet there’s always a sun in the sky
you are like a rose, too
you grow strong and beautiful
even though winter takes its toll
you never give up
keep
growing
beautiful
rose

The winters do take their toll, but that only makes the summers all the sweeter. Great poem.
