The deadline is tonight for Wolverhampton Literature Festival’s 2020 poetry competition, in conjunction with Write Out Loud, on the theme of “vision”. This year's judge Roz Goddard, pictured, says she's partial to poems "that are unexpected, inventive, filmic with a sumptuous spread, playful poems, intense poems that make me catch my breath, poems where I get a sense of the poet firmly in their own authentic territory, opening their shoulders, going for it”.

Make Roz catch her breath! First prize is £400, second prize £150, and there are three third prizes of £25 each. Winning and shortlisted poets will be invited to read their poems at an award ceremony at the festival in Wolverhampton on Sunday 2 February, 2020. You can read the rules and enter the competition here. The deadline for entering the competition is 31 December 2019.
