FOR A DEAD PET

They come home

pleading with wild eyes;

and every time you lose them

you miss them even more,

with each haunting welcome them back

as though they would always be there

reliving your despair.

Hi Hannah. Well I'm sort of glad you clicked with this, but it obviously was a painful time for you, so might have re kindled those feelings, which is a compliment to my poem, thanks.

Thanks too Kate for liking it.

Extremely moving.
I've been through this.
A poem to remember.
