Celebrations

It is hard to celebrate family things,

Birthdays, anniversaries, happiness they bring,

Are tinged with sadness that you are not there,

But laughing on those days, does not mean we don’t care.

We love you and miss you, we long for you here,

To make jokes, to laugh along, to shout out and cheer.

The family together, gave you nothing but delight,

We just wish you were with us, with all our might.

It saddens me to know that you are missing out on these days,

The children excited to show you and amaze,

With new tricks, new games, lots of things to show,

Happiness radiating, their faces aglow.

I like to think there is a way for you to see,

To watch the changes of your family.

It may not be in person, but in spirit you are there,

With a little sign, we know it and for that I swear.
