Be
You told me once that life isn't fair and for that you'd always resent it,
You told me how much you hated it for hurting you, and I could see that you meant it,
And it's true to say that much like the rest of us life has dealt you some hard blows,
But the truth is even harder than the hatred, 'cos the truth is sometimes that's just how it goes,
There's no changing most of it 'cos it's already done and it's only in hindsight you'll see it,
So learn the lessons of your mistakes 'cos if you want, "Change," you'll have to be it,
Be the change you so desperately want the fairness that you so desire,
Be the person you hoped, "Life," would be, be the one to step up and inspire,
Be the fairness you hoped life would show you, don't sit and whine like a child,
Be your successes, be your mistakes, be your honest truth rather than one you've compiled,
Be proud of all the things you got right, be brutally honest about what you got wrong,
Because life isn't fair, life is just life, so it's up to you to be strong.

Oh no Brian, make sure it's fully empty before you refill it my friend. I can't tell you how envious I am of the fact that you're in the pub right now, in the words of Monty python, "you lucky, lucky B******d?.
