Making A Point

Katarzyna didn’t have a skill,

they didn’t pay her much,

but Katarzyna was invaluable -

she had the human touch.

She hadn’t been to Uni,

had no meaningless degree

but she excelled in the school of life

and made my mum her tea.

It seems that care is valueless,

as is your place of birth,

when it comes to scoring points

and determining your worth.

Those who earn a small fortune

are welcomed with open arms

whilst we can’t get British workers

to pick fruit on British farms.

So stand up and be counted

all you economically inactive -

its not enough to take

we now want you all to give.

it’s no excuse to claim

that you’re retired, at school or ill,

we’ve given you the blueprint.

Where there’s a way there must be a will.

We’ll have some octogenarian

to serve your coffee black

and the kids will be back up chimneys

now we’ve got our country back.

If you care for a relative

rather than going out to work

we can save the pittance paid to a Carer.

So there’s another perk.

We’ll have hospitals full of doctors

and not a nurse in sight.

We’re protecting British jobs

(don’t worry it’ll be all white).

Meanwhile we will welcome

Bankers, multi-national CEO’s,

and that certain class of socialite

who plough the profits up their nose.

This is modern Britain

where Johnny Foreigner is kept out

and there are more chiefs than Indians

and if you’re in any doubt

that this will be for the better

then let me tell you this -

it could be you they look to

to clear up the vomit, shit and piss!

A good start might be making (rather than persuading) employers
to pay a wage commensurate with an "approved" national average for certain kinds of work. I have little sympathy with those whose
profit demarcation is excessive to the degree that they resort to
under-paying their work force and salve their collective consciences by consoling themselves with the thought that they are giving poor
foreigners a living that their own countries fail to provide. As for UK
older workers, it is hardly unknown for them to be ready to take on
employment and perform so reliably (displaying those old school
qualities of trustworthiness) that they are valued accordingly. Maybe
it's time for a Royal Commission to examine the whole range of
employment issues across the board as part of the post-Brexit
scenario and the irresistible parallel progress of automation that will
certainly affect job prospects in various currently available avenues
of employment?

Don't worry Ian, we'll always find someone to do our dirty work. There's a whole third world out there.
