I love the way your sample piece tumbles over itself: trying to listen as the self-observant stuff worries us, despite ourselves. Whether reporting a romance or just, trying to listen, the poem has a good hold on that fractured quality that can invade our thoughts, this mania. I think it is a very good poem.
