Reviews for Write Out Loud - Middleton
What an absolute corker Sunday night's Write Out Loud Middleton was! Joe Kozarzewski entertained us with his poetry. He thrilled us with tales of his anarchist past (& present! lol) His poetry told tales of him plastering poems throughout Rochdale subways, gluing turnstiles of public toilets and putting town planners and other bureaucrats in their place.
Joe can make us laugh with his aliens from outerspace, fume with him during his political rants (he is not known as the Rochdale Ranter for nothing) but when it comes to poetry of History, Exile and Love his words tug at the hardest of hearts. With such lines as "once we were dirty foreigners" whilst speaking of his family's arrival in Lancashire during WWII to "Bless this peace" from a beautiful tribute to his mother who fought in the Warsaw Uprising and "I am the torn wallpaper behind the guilty shelf" when speaking of his own romantic dalliances he took us on an amazing journey. Writing about a square in Krachow and reminiscing about the events and communities it has seen over the centuries he told us, "me an my Capuchino have time and can afford to dream." There was not a dry eye in the house.
Bravo Joe you were superb and I look forward (as always) to hearing more.
We enjoyed a strong open-mic with Eileen Earnshaw reading poetry from Ben Wilkinson's 'For Real', Jacqueline Phillips with a touching tribute to the Paris tragedy, Ken Eaton Dyes had us in stitches with his tales of cabbage and peas, David Ryder broke hearts with his touching poem 'How Long Can You Stay Dad' and Marion Tonge thrilled with her stories of apes and cigarettes. There were other gems too, YOU should have been there :)
That is all from Write Out Loud Middleton until 2016 when we return on Sunday, 24 January with local poet David S Ryder. Don't miss it!

Sunday the 24th of May saw an appreciative audience lap up the works of Brummy Steve Pottinger. I've seen many guest poets performing over the years, all good in their individual respect, but to me "Pottinger is the person" And I'm sure after Sunday's performance, will have (besides me) influenced the rearrangement of favourites lists, in the minds of those lucky enough to be in attendance.
Haven't got the vocabulary for the superlatives he deserves. So I'll just say. If he's in town "get on down"
Ken Eaton-Dykes.

Just returned from another excellent night of poetry and verse at the Ring of Bells, Middleton where the wonderful and extremely talented Eileen Earnshaw was the guest poet this month.
Eileen’s poetry has an almost magical quality and she crafted a passionate poetic journey for us. Destinations included love and food on the beach in Spain through to duvet days and dialect tales. A short poem about co-operation and lavender was poetic balm.
Eileen writes the kind of poetry I want to listen to, as well as read, over and over again.
Joe Kozarzewski entertained with a poem lamenting the community engagement failings of a local housing provider, a rendition of Jerusalem and a limerick about alien visitations. He was also the only poet who took advantage of our spanking new microphone.
John Leach extolled the virtues of water and our beloved planet whilst Marion Tonge told a rip-roaring tale of lost love, regrets and new beginnings.
The Cheeky Monkey’s sang Three Ravens followed by Julian Jordan who delivered two reflective and deeply emotional poems on the subjects of loss and love.
The effervescent Kenneth Eaton-Dykes had us in stitches with his comedic and cleverly observed poetry. I doubt anyone else has ever woven a tale involving a biblical excursion into the desert, a handful of miracles and the DHSS! Ken also entertained us with a poem about Friday night excesses, babies and the joy of parenting.
Norman Warwick expertly held the evening together with finely-honed compering skills interspersed with his own beautiful, melodic poetry.
Once again we came away thoroughly entertained and eager for more.

Mays gathering was enriched by the presence of guest poet Ian whitely who performed excellently, straight from the head, a selection of his first class work with just the occasional prompting glance at the lectern,(wish I could do that)
In support Marion read a couple on behalf of a favourite poet of hers, While Eileen as usual gave us a demonstration of how to write and execute good presentation.
Thankyou to Joy, Chris, Jefferama, John,
and everyone who contributed to a successful evening
Special mention in appreciation of the delightful performance given by a young
lady duo of what sounded to me a medieval folk
song. Watched by an equally talented, proud Mum.
Thanks to Norman our compere for filling the short interludes with a mixture of poetry and amusing banter.
See you all on the 22nd June.

I would like to echo Ken's comments. I was fortunate to be at the Ringers on what began as an evening looking like there would be few attendees which grew into an evening of stunning poetry, stunningly presented with great warmth and humour by every poet lucky enough to be there. Thank you Norm for inviting me to be your guest poet on an evening to be remembered as one of the most enjoyable I have been to.

Don't usually do this but I feel compelled to say
I was lucky enough to be last night, at the Ring'O'Bells, for what, was for me, one of the best gatherings ever. Every attendee, twelve in all (I think) performed the most excellent and varied program of poetry to a stunningly high standard. presided over entertainingly as usual, by the lovely Lorraine, and the not quite as lovely Norman.
Featured poet Peter Slater showed his versatility
brilliantly with a with a variety of pieces made
even more appealing by the quality of his presentation. This I might add, could be deservedly said, without exception, of every performer on the night.
Special thanks to the talented Chris and Natalie for making the long but very worthwhile trip from
Liverpool, to entertain us.
And for those who didn't come. "Don't know what you missed"

A fantastic night with a lovely atmosphere, excellent poetry.
The readers were Ken with his comedic poems, Marion Tong with her poem about the smoking gorilla, Nick who gave us a Luftwaffe rear gunner's take on shooting down a Lancaster, and Eileen Earnshaw who had written about a decidedly suspect Snowman.
I picked up that theme with my translation of a Jacques Prévert poem about a bonhomie de beige who rather foolishly sits on the stove.
The hosts were Lorraine Charlesworth and Norman Warwick, better known as HER AND THE POET and the special guest was Catherine Coward who called on Norman to perform with her under the name of DREAM PEDLARY, based on a poem of that title by Thomas Beddoes Fellowes. this turned out to be a mesmerising, theatrical poetry/song blend that deserves a wider audience. Wintry Words is an amalgam of some of Catherine's original works and some of Norman's, blended with Norman performing the song elements to great aplomb, as the local papers used to say.

AUGUST 2013:
This month we had 11 poets and audience members with Andy N as guest.
GOOD BITS:
Loved hearing all the different poets, I enjoyed the one about winter and Ken's retirement one, I enjoyed it all thank you, Gemma's a wonderful host as always, great mix of poets, good night, small audience but a good mix, just like being home, good poets, great topics that made one think, a lovely ambience of relaxation, listening to great poets, nice chilled evening and welcoming, :), nice relaxed night, made me as a headline act feel welcome, excellent quality of poetry, Katie's first one brought a lump to my throat.
AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT:
Maybe a little warm, not enough hours need more, could do with a few more folk but not a problem, more people here would be nice, few more here but it's summer these things happen....and my favourite comment of the night....
What? No cakes? No caviar? No brass band? Chocolate fountain? All you have here is quality poetry, good company, chilled atmosphere and witty hosting! TISK!

July 2013:
This month we had 12 performers and audience members including Guest Dominic Simpson and newcomer David Lindsay.
David had set himself a challenge some time ago to memorise one poem per month and he performed two for us this month very skilfully. He hadn't just memorised the words, he had also choreographed routines for each one.
Good Bits Feedback: host, space, sound, regulars, comfortable and friendly, great guest slot, good atmosphere and poets, liked Dominic's slot, enjoyed it, everything, great night, great night as usual, great night, friendly group and great atmosphere, always a great evening, great guest slot, well supported.
Areas For Improvement: DJ again lol can't be helped, cakes?!!! :(, missed the nearly dead poets, missed the nearly dead poets, I'd arrived at 6:30pm for a 7pm start worth changing on WOL website, could get more people, could it?

June 2013:
We had 16 audience members and performers this month and an excellent guest slot from Pete Slater.
Feedback:
Great people, nice and relaxed, I'm wonderful, relaxed, poetry uncensored, good poems, nice venue, great poems, great performers, great cakes, purr-fect, very good meeting, outstanding, great as usual, brilliant as per, great variety.
Early start is difficult for travel, early start makes travelling from afar difficult, shoot quiz mic man lol, too many stairs, not enough exits, bigger cakes, noise from downstairs, not enough expletives, a bigger audience.

On Sunday 26th May 2013 we had the usual high standard of performance with incomparable M.C.ing from Gemma. The star turn of the night was Pete Slater who gave us a moving poem about the after effects of his little boy being scalded. We also had Nick Ambrister and Simon Rusty with great material. Two visitors from Birkenhead were excellent. A man on the road, who was going to walk the Rochdale Canal to Manchester and go to three events there decided he'd had enough, so headed back to Leeds.
We had quite a 'ripe' evening with plenty of deliscious ruderies, but then we are all adults. A man in his sixties[my age] did one on 'coprophilia' if I'm not mistaken, which is the love of shit!! Hilarious stuff!! I did a miserablist one followed by one by Simon Rusty 'I'm proud to be a vegan' that I have done before. Great Night1111

and a brilliant five years it has been too, Gemma. We set a Middleton night up after being asked to do so by Cartwheel Arts all those years ago. Firstly at the Olde Boars Head, where the challenges were several, from being greeted by cake-strewn floors to having the noise of the bar filtering through the medieval curtains.
I wonder if it is worth having a mic and amps there. I suspect not because it would be such a faff carting them through the pub and upstairs. In any case the pub might object to having their music/Countdown sessions interrupted by our melifluous stanzas.

APRIL 2013:
Can you believe that we are just 2 months off having done this for 5 years?? There's been amazing times and absolutely awful times but we've wethered it all. People I'd never met before turned up with poems one day and are now life-long friends. I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who makes Middleton WOL possible (special mention to Katie obviously), I love you guys!
We had a great turn out last week, 22 people in total, 16 people performing and the amazing Tony Walsh as the guest publicising his awesome new book 'Sex & Love & Rock & Roll'. There was so much poetry, we couldn't contain it within our usual 2 hour do and we went on poeting until gone 10 O'Clock, (now if that ain't Rock & Roll, Tony, I dunno what is)!
Good Bits Feedback:
Fantastic guest, lovely night, all of it, great variety, supportive, friendly, Tony Walsh, inclusive, fun, lively, great space, excellent MC, keep it up, guest poet, Ken, Gemma, Katie, new guys, guest speaker was very good, great selection of poets, fantastic main act, superb evening, brilliant night, loved it tonight, what can I say?, brilliant night, excellent poets, great night as usual, inspiring guest, inspired host, good night especially Tony, some stunning poetry, superb guest slot, great to see people sharing their stories and poems, very friendly, thanks for having me, wonderful night, emotionally charged, reminds me what it's all about, excellent organisation, good night again, home for me, great guest spot, good company, good turnout and atmosphere, keep doing what you're doing! PHEW!
The areas for improvement mostly dealt with the music downstairs but it was us who over ran by an hour, not them turning it on early so when we have so many poets that 2 hours won't do, we will just have to be louder than the c**p downstairs after 9!
See you all next month!

March 2013:
This month we had 14 poets and audience members including the brilliantly macabre Dermot Glennon and THREE (count ‘em) fantabulous newcomers: Ben, Danny and Liam.
The only negative feedback was Dermot (sporter of the incredibly chic three year old Sainsbury’s carrier bag filing system) chastising himself for being late but it happens to the best of us (ie me, a LOT)!
The positive feedback was: quality poems and poets, good atmosphere, very friendly and good poets, great night and new faces, great night especially the lovely hosts, short on numbers but long on talent, good to have newbies, good mixture of styles and topics, warmer than last time, good mix of talented people, fab simple fecking fab, another good night, great variety and fantastic.

FEBRUARY 2013
It was a busy night at the Ringers with 20 combined poets and audience members, the mood was good as everyone seemed in high spirits. The Nearly Dead's took us on a ride on "The Gravy Train", while on his own Alvin Sawdust performed "Non too Canny Danny" about gambling addiction. Deslexic got us all aboard " Captain Cameron's Canoe". Julia had "A Screw Loose" and Ken had us all in hysteria with his modern day Jesus. Carol treated us to "Sunday Lunch" while Andrew told us of his rebirth entitled Ides. Pete told us of the all too familiar "Curtain Twitchers" and New poet Adam enchanted us with the subject of death. Eileen spoke of "Co-operation" and Norman rejoiced in the moment that words are born. Rod performed in Shakespearean style for his poem "As You Come". Lastly but not least Catherine Coward delivered an outstanding showcase with pieces such as " Love is" and "Raised from the Page", she read her poems with finesse while keeping the listener engaged. So Well Done Catherine.

Main comments were about it being cold. Il have a word with the landlord and see if he can put some heat on. Failing that il bring my portable heater.
Good Points
Great night as usual, Excellent range, Wide range of material, Excellent night as usual, Lovely entertaining night, Good folk easy, reading easy, listening easy!!! Aren't we all wonderful, All, Great variety of poetry, Wonderful set Catherine, Great night as usual, great guest reader, Norm funny night, love it! Had a great time, full of sparks, Variety, comedy eccentric entertainment! Humorous.
Next months guest is yet to be confirmed but Gemma Lees will be back!!
A write up by Norman Warrick of the first half of the night.
In the first half we heard the voice of our conscience tell us to shovel away left over snow. We did that watched by nosey neighbours, watching us while they had their Sunday lunch and drowned their roast from the Gravy Train. We must of all had a screw loose because we should of had a duvet day or read from the gospel according to John, instead of listening to old Deaf Bell Nell.

JANUARY 2013
Despite clashing events we had a great night at the Ring O Bells with everyone in high spirits. Carol Keys started us off with a New Years Eve themed poem. While Joy got us all involved with her Balls themed poem. Pete read a big f@ck you to the world and Darren wowed us with his newly written words. New poet Carol Kelly made us think with her creative piece about the Cournals daughter. Alvin Sawdust had us all in giggles with Cockneys Sell Fruit, while Deslexic said Good God. Joe the ranter joined us for the first time at the Ringers and ranted about the British pastime of queuing. Julia spoke of a modern day Robbie Burns and I read through a Window Pane. Our guest Gus Jonnson read some touching and honest poetry about his past, his mothers OCD and how painting is a messy form of poetry. He kept us all captivated with reflective words. So a great night.
FEEDBACK
Areas for improvement
Noise from downstairs, a fez for everyone, £1,000,000 for each, bit cold
My apologies for the noise on the stairs. As for a fez for everyone, not sure where to get them and I can't afford to give you all lots of money lol. And the cold, I'm afraid the radiators were on so there isn't much I can do for this.
Good Points
Excellent content as usual, Overall pretty good, The fecking lot, Lovely wasn't a disappointment, Nice quiet but comfy, Enjoyable evening, some great poetry as usual, Great evening, Lovely,Chums, creativity, food and raffle.
Some great feedback there. And I'd like to say a big thank you to everyone whose supported me, practically the Nearly Dead Poets and Just Poets who compered the nights and Carol Keys for making the cakes. But I couldn't have done this without the support everyone as given me. Now I pass the reins proudly back to Gemma "the poet " Lees and I'm looking forward to her return. Next months guest will be the talented Catherine Coward. See you all then.

Just wanted to say a big and humble "Thank you" to fellow poets at the Ring 'o' Bells in Middleton for voting me "Poet of the Year" In such good company this is praise indeed. I had my first experience of reading my "poetry" at the Ringers in June 2011, and I was made to feel welcome and comfortable from the very first. I'm so pleased. ENOUGH!! I would also like to thank everyone for their kindness, support and understanding. Looking forward to 2013 with friends and fellow word creatives at the Ring 'o' Bells.
Cheers yawl.

December 2012
We had a full and festive night at the Ringers this time. Joy France read us a Christmas poem with a twist and Ken had us gleeful with laughter with his usual witty humour. Norman and Mike made us think with some serious poetry. John spoke of a family friend. While Carol faves us her own count down to Christmas. Andrew Warhouse gave us a lyrical piece while Julia Mclay gave us a short but sweet piece about her son, Peter the lesser read us a tribute to Marlene. While Christine reminded us of war. Allvin Sawdust was on the buses. Robin Parker delivered us a parody on the joys of Christmas shopping. Gemma read one of her soon to be available children's tales. I read about the annoyance of that Caller Unknown. James Whitrow delivered a fascinating showcase featuring poems on relationships and giving it time and lastly but not least our newly nominated poet of the year Pete Slater delivered professionally some poems about the recent loss of a loved one. Now to the feedback.
AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT
Collision of events took edge off things, Noise from downstairs, shout louder, Full house of poets and empty downstairs even with a live band, Room set different, Turn up on time.
I apologies about the noise downstairs, there was no notice given about the band. Setting the room differently is not a problem but need ideas on how people want it and probably help moving things as I can't with my back. As for the turn up on time, I cannot force people to arrive and I'm happy to start at 7.30, after letting people leisurely arrive. What do others think? Feedback on this would be helpful. There's only one person who I know has a problem with this, do others?

FEEDBACK
AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT
More people to come, maybe speak to the landlord about music/noise from downstairs as this was distracting.
I've been spreading the word of our night and will keep doing but fellow Ringers please spread the word too. As for the noise from down stairs, it's a bit difficult as the room is free for us to use and we have changed the time to try not to conflict with the quiz but the quiz seems to have moved back again and I dont think we could start any earlier but I'l see what I can do.
GOOD POINTS

OCTOBER 2012
We had a busy night at the Ringers with 17 poets and audiance members. We had some of Ken's usual brand of comedy gold with his Write Out Loud poem (especially for Julian). Pete made us think with his poem about words and how we take them. Lorraine told us of the all too familar joys of please hold the line. Alvin Sawdust inspired by his bat biscuit did a Batman poem. Maureen told of the harm of waiting too late. Julain's poem "Don't Knock it Till you've tried it" suggested we not always be so careful with spam mail. Marion reflected on her courting days. Des Lexic had a wash day of life. John remembered days gone. Gus discussed the domestic issues of getting things done. Robin mediatated in the Mediterainian. Catherine spoke of peace and quiet and Joy stole the show wih her poem of two voices about the new "Womens" Bic Pens. Mike Hiltons showcase went down a storm with poems about his Mum and Dad, his piece No Title on how to write poetry and his sobering piece on sucicide in prision. Appologies for the mix up with the guest slot but Rod Whitworth will be with us next time. It was a great night barr a little friction at the end but when people feel passionate these things can happen.

Well, an interesting night at the Ringers. Good people, good poetry, good opinions......good differences of opinion. A healthy expression of differing views...proves that poets DO have a voice and can stir emotions. More please. Was a quiet night at the Ringers, what with some of our regulars off on their hols, lucky buggers lol. Any way there was plenty of quality and a great atmosphere. We had Kens always hilarious poetry on Old age and Prince Harry's antics from the Queens point of view. Carol entertained us with her Diamond planet and Deslexic was in a romantic mood with his poem May I. Mike was all about bike bells and Alvin Sawdust dazzled us with Rings on your Fingers. Joy France did a wonderful guest slot with pieces such as Lipstick, a touching poem about her Mum. A limerick for the Ring O Bells night ( which hopefully she'll post here) and she kept us all drawn in with Antisipation. Everyone enjoyed her fantastic guest slot.

Apologies to everyone who thought they were going to be tortured by my guest slot in August. I thought I would be clever and take off in my caravan with my wife and grandchildren to Ormskirk for 6 days. The idea being to drive to Middleton on the Sunday, do the Ringers(I was S-O-O-O looking forward to it)and then drive back to the van afterwards, it's only an hour away. Katie had already worked so hard to change my slot from Sept as I will be away then as well. Thank you Katie. Unfortunately my 2 year old grandson had a nasty fall when we took him into Southport for the day and we ended up spending the evening in A & E. He was bruised and sore but nothing worse fortunately. As much as I wanted to read in the guest slot, family comes first. Sorry again folks. Hope to see you all in October.

AUGUST 2012
We had 14 of us tonight. The comperes The Nearly Dead Poets did an excellent job of keeping everyone relaxed and in high spirits. We had some wonderful poetry including Joy's thought provoking piece on how other cultures treat children with disability, Des Lexics comical piece on being strange and Alvin Sawdusts worrying piece on infectious conditions. We also had some darkness upstairs with Maureen and some tales of the Middleton Moonrakers from Julia, as well as lots of other excellent poetry. Our guest Pete Slater was a no show, so hoping all is well with him and nothing untoward has happend. But it was a great night anyway.
Areas For Improvements
Pity Pete didn't show up

JULY 2012
We had a comfortable 15 attendees at the Ringers this month. It was a good night with lots of laughs, banter and great poetry. Andy N's showcase was a captivating mix of emotion and greatly entertaining. There was Norman Warrick's barber poem accompanied by The Nearly Dead Poets with garden sheers of all things (the two should'nt mix,was scary lol). Robin treated us to a poem from the famous Eden Scrolls. There was music from Jeffarama and some weighty poetry from Alvin Sawdust and Ken. Also well done to new comer Eileen, who has been away from the poetry scene for some time so we were happy to welcome her back and look forward to hearing more of her next month.
FEEDBACK
AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENTS
Nowt,?, Bit of background noise but thankfully quieted down as carried on, All is fine ta, Impossible.
GOOD POINTS
As always a chilled evening of varied top poetry, Relaxed easy like a favourite pair of slippers(with a nail in them)!!, Was a bit worried Ged with the sheers but was great fun as always, Good Health Club, Flippin great night, Wonderful, Groovy yeah groovy, Brilliant as per, Excellent night lots of laughs, Good night as usual well organised, Excellent compères, Mutual respect between all alike and audience, So nice to meet with like minded people and know that poetry is NOT dead, Always good.
Not sure what we can do about the noise from the beer garden on the hot nights when we need the door open, could see if the land lord has a fan we can use. Also not sure if the bit about the nail in the slipper is a complement or not. Next months guest is Pete Slater, hope to see lots of you there. Also thank you for the great feedback I received over Face Book. It was greatly received and appreciated.

JUNE 2012
We had a small but creative crowd at Ring O Bells this month with the clash with the England game. But although intimate there was plenty of quality and laughs. We had ten poets in total and The Nearly Dead Poets did an excellent job of comparing.
Areas for Improvement
Feck all, make the good points column wider in the feed back book, none that I can see apart from the football downstairs, spaces between tables for people to perform easier.
I will make sure the column is bigger next time and il see if we can move the tables slightly although there is limited room
Good Points
Still a really welcoming diverse space, great night, small but perfectly formed audience, feckin good show, great banter between poems, refreshingly chilled atmosphere, always good, chilled night coz of the football, enjoyed it all thank you, everything
Also thank you to Micheal Wilson who arrived late due to unforeseen circumstances but was worth the wait. He did an excellent guest slot with some thought provoking poetry.
The next WOL at the Ring O Bells is the 21st July with guest Andy N. Hope to see lots of you there, hopefully they'll be no football clashes now England's out but next is the tennis, so watch this space.

MAY 2012
We had a great night at the Ring O Bells with 19 poets reading. Gemma managed to make an appearance for her last night as organiser but had to depart early due to being unwell. She was presented with flowers and a card presented by The Nearly Dead Poets and we all wish her good luck with her soon to be new addition Tommy. The Nearly Dead poets compared the evening.Special mention to Darren Tattersall who read for the first time and was fantastic. Also just a quick note to say we start at 7.00 p.m, I know theres been some confusion with the time but next month we will start at 7 sharp.

Just a personal comment. I was disappointed that some-one had complained to third parties about the bad language at the Ringers. I understand that some people are offended by what in reality is only a series of guttural utterances. Being one of many that works in a male dominated environment and suffers from "Industrial language" syndrome, I would like to offer my sincere apologies (to whoever it may concern, who doesn't possess the maturity to air their concerns within the confines of a group of like minded grown ups) if it was my language that caused the offense. I would also ask, if the occasion arises in the future could the "offendees" please raise the matter there and then. I do sincerely believe that nobody at the Ringers sets out to offend and would welcome direct, honest and forthright opinion. Thank you for pointing it out Gemma. Just a shame you had to.
Cheers.

OCTOBER 2011:
We had a bit of a rollercoater ride this month, the ups were that we had a record 26 performers and Norman's brilliant guest slot.
Unfortunately we also had some downs in the shape of a yapping dog and a rather drunk fellow who loved to hear the sound of his own voice, kept interrupting me, gave the longest intro to a poem I've ever had at Middleton (7 mins) and decided that we were all too stuck up (well I will take that with a pinch of salt!)
Feedback:
Areas for Improvement: I love dogs but an open mic's not the place! I wouldn't bring Max lol! ditto, open the door more 2 stuck up, start on time!, as Katie and Joy said (re. dogs!)

As a first timer at taking part in ANY sort of public event let alone poetry reading I would like to thank all the "All round nice folk and jolly good eggs" for making me welcome and putting me at ease on the 26th June 2011 . As Gemma says, a relaxed and friendly atmosphere with nice people, specially for an open mic 59yr old performance virgin who had never even thought of writing a poem up to 4 months ago. Now I am smitten. Looking forward to the next meet.
Thanks everybody.
Pete Slater.

Considering the small attendance at the Ring 'O' Bells the evening turned out to be surprisingly interesting and lasting longer in time than it does with a larger gathering.
Consisting of two poems apiece plus conversational intervals where we exchanged each our method of approach in poetry construction, the evening flew by, with contributions from Tony, Jaquie, myself, and our effervescent host the bubbly talented Eileen Earnshaw. Sadly co-host Shirley-Anne has had to bow out through weight of commitment. See you all in June.
