Our dog ran away what could I say

as she pulls on my hand

simply wouldn’t stay 

was gone in a flash

where the leash from behind 

bounced with a crash 

I chased wildly behind 

without any gain

as the poor thing ran going insane

the clamor the clacking 

making such a roar

all the neighbors tore from 

their front door

“what’s this my goodness?!”

PASSENGER

North liverpool taxi ride 

It was a clear.. autumn... day outside 

But everyone was unaware

Of this special day on Merseyside

I spoke to the driver in the cab 

He asked what I thought about the stag 

The stag I asked what do you mean 

 

It's all over the news haven't you seen? 

 

There has been sightings in the North of the city 

An animal rare so sacred so pretty

Sounding smug he said
“Nothing is vegan” as if he
had stated a truth revealed by God.

And I remembered a story about a
Buddhist monk who started each day
with a prayer for all the living beings
he would kill or harm just by
existing on the Earth.

He said simply walking,
or even breathing,
would surely cause and
perpetuate suffering.
