Hint Of Skullduggery
A beautiful, serene start to the day
with the slightest hint of skullduggery
Early, eerie mist paints a picture
with the coral like silhouette of a tree
The sun is simmering against the clouds
from the depths gentle wisps are reaching out
The most wonderful way to start the day
of that, I’m sure no one could ever doubt

Crimson Leaves
There is nothing more enchanting
than a woodland at this time of year
Shrouded in a cloak of fog and mist the hidden birds are all I hear
Towering trees rise like tall giants
from the earth they reach to the sky
Caught in the tight grip of autumn
the last crimson leaves delight the eye

Recharge
Inspired by the above
If a torch dims or burns out
would you instantly throw it away
Or would you replace the batteries
so it shines bright for another day
If someone loses their way
would you instantly cast them away
Or would you replace their batteries
to get them through a difficult day
Everyone loses their way sometimes
we dim or burn out once in a while
Everyone n...

Brain Freeze
This cost of living crisis
is a real pain in the bum
It is giving me brain freeze
and my fingers feel quite numb
I’m finding it hard to write
my poetic flow is froze
I’m chilled right through to the bone
from my head down to my toes
The heating is not reaching
the body parts it should reach
I find I’m always dreaming
of sunny days on the beach
Wrapped in so many layers
I...

Misty Sunrise
A misty November sunrise
everything still at first glance
Except on the horizon
where wisps of water seem to dance
The autumn sun slowly rises
awakening the morning
Covered in soft kisses of dew
a brand new day is dawning

Robin
A delightful familiar walk
the trees bare as autumn bites
Brightening up the naked woodland
a flash of red delights

Soupy Abyss
Creating this eerie atmosphere
is the order of the day
Mist and cloud shrouding the world
in a cloak of murky grey
Distant shapes appear like monsters
from the soupy abyss they loom
Dendritic trees laid bare by autumn
reaching out into the gloom

Cumbrian Forest
A Cumbrian forest
cascading mini waterfall
The sound of water
ignites a feeling inside us all
Moss covered Autumn trees
add to the charming enchantment
Adventure lies ahead
sure to be filled with excitement

Depths Of Autumn
Caught in the depths of autumn
a woodland engulfed in fog and mist
This serene scene is so enchanting
a sight to good to be missed
Trees holding on to their last leaves
which sing with gold and honey hues
As they mourn the fallen ones
gifting eerily beautiful views

Fiery Heavens
Fiery heavens, crimson clouds
the sun is setting up the day
The early morning show begins
in a most spectacular way
It makes me pause for a moment
I look on slack jawed and in awe
Natures artwork at its finest
promises a great day in store

Delicate Sunrise
A delicate sunrise
at our pond today
Warm golden yellow hues
melting the night away
The silhouettes of ducks
dance along the water
Ripples break the surface
in rhythmical order

The Simple Things
Sometimes the simplest things in life
are the most joyful to see
Like watching a woodland stream
slowly meandering to the sea
Shimmering water follows its course
a gentle gurgling sound
Besides hues of copper and gold
of the fallen leaves on the ground

Goldfinch
A charm of goldfinches
braving the chilly weather
With their clown like markings
looking quite spectacular
The perfect morning view
who could want anything more
Almost makes the washing up
a pleasure, not a chore

Last Hurrah
My favourite part of autumn
as trees give us their very best
A last hurrah until next year
before they take their winter rest
Natures gold decorates the trees
colours so intense, warm and bright
My eyes dazzle in the wonder
of this fine and impressive sight

Standing Still
Just standing still in nature
taking in the sounds and sights
Can bring a sense of well-being
that both calms and delights

Gold Confetti
A walk through autumn woodland
on newly carpeted ground
The crunching leaves underfoot
a crisp and delicious sound
Bright sunlight filters through
foliage still clinging to the trees
The rest fall like gold confetti
floating down on the breeze
