This is for gig feedbacks, but was it a gig? We certainly read poetry to each other at several points on the walk, so maybe it was - a kind of physically and temporally elongated outdoor gig.

There were 8 of us who set out from Hebden Bridge towards Hardcastle Crags. Wonderful weather and beautiful surroundings. The highlight was (arguably) the friendly pigs. It certainly wasn't the National Trust cakes at Gibson Mill, which was in other respects an idyllic place to loaf.

3 of us headed back to the delights of Hebden Bridge at this point while the other 5 ('A' walkers)headed off for the Pennine Way and the canal as a longer route back. Perhaps the most exciting bit was going through a field where there was a prominent 'Beware of the Bull' sign. But we made it and even paused in said field for photos!

Hopefully it will prove possible to get other photos on WOL - particularly the ones of poets lined up on stepping stones.

We thoroughly enjoyed the walk and the meal afterwards at the White Lion. As we parted, the talk was all about it happening again. Sara and Becca - please do organise that walk around Glossop. Let's do it!

Thank you Dave for organising this 'gig'. As a first WOL for me it was a real bonus being out of doors for the whole event - walking, eating, drinking, poetry, laughing, talking, beautiful surroundings, and making friends with beautiful people! Hope to see you soon (Glossop?!) - Yvonne

As a lover of poetry and walking, this was something I had to be part of and in my own town too. One small problem; a 200 mile bike ride the day before ended up with me in Cheshire in bed and reluctant to rise at 7.30 am having finished at 01.30 am the night before! It was well worth the effort however to get to the start on time and tromp (Is that a word) through well known scenery in the new and renewed company of WOL poets. Enjoyed the chat and readings and greatly appreciated the hard work Dave had put in before hand in his organisational capacity. When cyberspace identities come to life in the real world its always interesting and through the medium of this walk this happened. For me this is the most important aspect of WOL.

I agree with Yvonne and Winston : ) a big thanks to Dave for organising this gig which was a very special day in Hebden exploring beautiful places with lovely people who were very kind and patient to a fellow poet with a fear of stepping stones : ) Best social event in my reclusive life this year : )

A lovely day out! I wimped out on the B walk but still felt stiff a day later! Crumbs - how unfit must I be? I loved meeting Becca, Sara, Yvonne - putting lovely personalities to faces. Thanks Dave! xx

Didn't mean to miss you out there Debs - I just felt like I already knew you before I went on the walk. You can get that out of reading people's poetry. It's like you know them sometimes, even though you've hardly met. x
