Donations are essential to keep Write Out Loud going

?

It is sad beyond measure that we live in a world where those who shout loudest get heard,

Where truth is lost amid the din and the real cost is the quietly spoken word,

Maybe one day we'll realise that hidden beneath this loud and angry protestation,

Is someone calmly and quietly sharing thoughtful, considered information,

Strange that a creature so proud of its intelligent, reasoning capabilities,

Should pay more attention to the loud, ill tempered peoples grievances,

Perhaps that's where we've gone wrong, why we've sacrificed all reason,

Perhaps the woeful misuse of this tool is the herald of man's closing season,

To be the most, "Intelligent," creature to walk upon the face of this Earth,

And not to use that gift responsibly, may be the measure of our worth,

And yet we can all hear it, hidden, just below the vexatious shouting,

The quietly spoken word of those who do not hold with angry pouting,

And perhaps one day we'll hear their words and cease our pointless bristling,

Perhaps, if we're wise and quiet enough to shut the fuck up and start listening.

Thanks Tom, Kev and Lorraine, just felt the need for a bit of a rant today.❤

(P.S. Sorry Tom I didn't answer your question, (ironic really) the main reason I titled it, "?" is that it's about paying attention and listening for the truth amongst all of the hyperbole, and feel free to call me thick, but it only really occured to me the other day that the written symbol for a question looks so much like an ear, which suggests to me that the person who invented the, "?" really understood how important it was, when someone asks a question, that we actually listen to the answers they give. Is that a rhetorical question mark? ? Great writing as always Jason. On the micro and macro level - it's something that has always bothered me too.

We have two ears and one mouth, and should use them in that proportion. Unfortunately it's usually those who have the least to say, that speak the loudest.

Nicely written.
