Young Tommy didn’t get irony, cross,
he set off with the boneheads and boots
to guard statues of old Winston Churchill.
Signalling intent with their Nazi salutes.

I do not seek argument, rather...discussion. And so far my questions
remain unanwered; not uncommon. But ultra-left or ultra-right,
they are both to be acknowledged and challenged in the "cold light
of day" - without fear or favour.
Pip-pip!.

So few words
So many opinions ?
I appreciate it

I don't need the support of fascists in my opposition to mobs pulling down statues, thankyou. I distance myself from them.
I must have misunderstood, MC. Are you saying that yesterday's drunken racist thugs were not far-right - or at least, not far-right enough for you? And I hardly think quoting Alf Garnett does your arguments any favours, old boy.
Far out, man!
I recall it said that the biggest trick the devil pulled was convincing
people he didn't exist. The "far left" appears to manage this by campaigning to convince folk that they "care" whilst vilifying others
as uncaring. Only yesterday, the media kept referring to "the far right", yet fascist is a term that is just as accurately applied to the
behaviour of the far left in my own sharp end street duty experience.
As Alf Garnett might have said: "LIttle bleeders!" ?
ah yes MC - in the same way the media reported this as ant-anti fascist - when I went to school 2 negatives made a positive - i.e. Fascist ? and - in terms of the media - virtually all the media is right-wing owned - so my heart bleeds for you ? no really ?
I am a fan of short effective pieces of verse. Good one. However,
to add to the debate, I have noted a media dis-inclination to refer to
the "far left" when reporting scenes of public disturbance. Are we
to accept that there is no such faction? Or are they employed in
the media itself? Just curious. ?

The debate should not detract from what is a very good piece, and shows what can be achieved in a very few lines.
the ultra right wing only get on with those who wear the same football shirt and would be too pissed up to be effective. I find it ironic that you say 'that was then - this is now' when all the right do is hark back to the 'good old days' ?

Well, that was then...this is now. Today's left is too PC to be an effective fighting force. They would not follow orders. They would question every order and only comply with those that met their criteria.
if you think the left wing can't fight for what's right Brian - you should have been at Cable Street ?

Excellent Ian...and although I detest the ultra right wing I can't help but wonder that if the country was under the threat of invasion who could we trust to defend us....the left wing mobs who seem to hate this country and and want to erase symbols of our history, or the patriotic right wing yobs? Not a great choice but as you know I do tend to lean towards the right.

BUT - MC - The Ultra Left were not marching in this country recently - and the Ultra Right were - you must ask yourself those questions and I'm sure you will have the answers - I support Socialism - certainly not Ultra-Left - and Socialists are pro-community, pro-an equal share, pro-equality and pro gender rights - and the 'right' are not - so that is where I will rest my case.
