Bottom's Up
So bid we farewell to Andy and Jel
With sadness and loss, but some joy as well,
For they are our friends, we know this will stay,
Long after the van takes their stuff away.
Andy has this house and how they have more,
As they head to the land of hills and of Moor.
So raise up your glasses and take a wee sup,
And toast their departure, with Bottom’s Up!
The house just behind the Old House at Home
Where cats, snakes and laughter were often to roam.
Chaise longue and stag antlers, bikes in the hall
Piano of course, and tales short and tall.
Their dinners and parties were known to be great
With themes like a record, poems on the plate.
A hub you could say with spokes running off
Of music, and drama, community stuff.
Their friends always quirky but clever as well,
All brought together by Andy and Jel.
in the Albert with Antony for music and fun
And double entendres –he’ll give you one!
The loft talks eclectic and talking things through,
Where naughty old jell kept sex machines too.
So raise up your glasses and take a wee sup,
And toast their departure, with Bottom’s Up!
And now as they pack up and leave Newton Ave
We think of the fun times and memories we’ll have.
Of cats of all colours, saved from the street
To visit their house was always a treat.
It always had love of the soul and the mind
At their house hilarity you’d always find.
And then there’s dear Carliie, we’re happy to say
That back here in Manc she’s ready to stay.
She’s welcome at our house for meals and a chat
Or hugs or advice or stroking the cat.
So raise up your glasses and take a wee sup,
And toast their departure, with Bottom’s Up!
And Andy and Allison won’t be far away
No problem to nip back, just for a day
The train zips them back here in no time at all,
From life in t’hills back home they can call.
I’ve heard tell of life up there in Toddy
Where folk are right friendly, just like anybody.
Up there in Yorkshire, it’s hearty and hale,
Warm in the valleys and colder in dale.
They don’t know what’s coming with this quirky pair
With Andy’s one liners and Jelly’s long hair,
They bring folk together and that’s quite a thing
To break down the barriers and let love in.
Bottoms Farm is the name of their new gaff
Not upper Bottom, Itchy Bottom, or other names daft.
But we all know the bottom line in the end,
Is there they will gather their talents and friends.
Around their piano we’ll gather one day
And join for a sing song and then we’ll all say
We miss you, but love you and know that you’ll be
Our friends and our soul mates for eternity
So now let’s put the kettle back on,
And toast your departure, you’ve moved, never gone.
So raise up your glasses and take a wee sup,
And toast their departure, with Bottom’s Up!
