Attempting Poetry

The untitled poet

Could that be my poetic name,

should by writing poetry,

I happen to find fortune and fame.

or

The uneducated poet

Not knowing wrong from right,

lacking vocabulary intelligence,

my work is dull and far from bright.

or

The uncomplicated poet

Noting the simple things in life,

content just being myself,

a proud mother and a happy wife.

or

The unsophisticated poet

Restricted in language and verse,

telling my story how it is,

limited, short, sweet and often terse.

or

The unremarkable poet

My subjects lack diversity,

living my blessed life,

without need, fear or adversity.

or

The non contentious poet

No strong religious political views,

often spending my day,

shying away from the daily news.

or

The rambling poet

Not of the backpacking kind,

the type that rambles on,

tripping over the words in my mind.

Attempting poetry,

Is what I do and my name,

I am not seeking fortune,

I would not want the fame.

Attempting Poetry,

It is how I pass the time.

my words lack rhythm,

and often do not rhyme.

Attempting Poetry.

Is what I choose to do,

I leave my attempts here,

to read for me and you.

Attempting Poetry,

I attempt to write with care.

I hope my attempts do not offend,

the many accomplished poets out there.

Thank you moon.girl.
I am new to writing and lacking knowledge and confidence.
The more I read about the types of poetry and other peoples work the less confident I become about my own. A friend sent me the purple hat poem and it inspired me to share my attempts. I am trying to keep my purple hat on as long a possible.
I am learning from poetry posted on here and comments like yours and Po's inspire and encourage me to keep trying and doing.

This is one poem I can deeply associate with.

Long back when I started writing poems, they were silly rhymes I used, for I thought rhyming your muse, is important to write a poem of a remarkable kind. I wrote, tried rhyming, defining, wrote about politics, racism and many other stuff. In order to rhyme the line, my muse use to get confused and entangled, i had something different in mind and something different came on paper. It used to put me off.
So i sat down to write poems with its poetic etiquette, where rhyme time and sublime was all there.
But poetry to me was my talking to myself or my soulmate. Where I don't have to write much but I have to feel much. And these became my connection poems, conversational poems.

Write what you wish to write. Those who have to read will definitely read it.

I remember, long back I wrote a poem on Independence Day. It was just a simple write. But I was astonished to see that my poem was read by some principal of a school randomly picked my poem, and in his speech he read my poem. So you never know what words appeals to whom.

The simpler the language the better the crowd understands. And if I'm able to touch hearts, my work is done.

Name, fame, money and everything are momentary. These may or may not give satisfaction permanently. But writing does more wonders than this.

I can understand this poem of yours very well. I can relate with your simple thought sentences.

Thank you for reminding me why I write poems.

Thank you Po, not looking for comments and likes, just hoping some would get to the end and see my wish not to offend! ?
Unfortunately the more I read others work, the less confident I seem to become. If my writing does not offend I will continue to post and try to do.

I hope some WOL readers get through to the end.
Maybe I should have written my attempt with the ending at the beginning.
