The Mole In A Tight Hole

entry picture

In the Westmorland Gazette today

I read the story of a mole

who despite all good intentions

got himself into a tight hole

He tried to make himself a home

in the donation box on the wall

he got in through a narrow tube

he must have been so very small

A handyman was called when

someone spotted his little snout

a two hour rescue mission followed

as the man struggled to get him out

This heroic effort was witnessed

by a gathering and concerned crowd

when the mole was finally freed

in relief they gave a cheer, so loud

Their joy however was short lived

as was the life of that little mole

he had been in the box too long

the ordeal had taken its deadly toll

Sadly, he died a few minutes later

and now I bet that the little mole

wishes he hadn't made the move

and still lived in his old mole hole

RIP Mole

Amended slightly, I wish I could leave this one alone?

Quick work and nicely done, yours is a more fitting tribute to the poor mole. I do wish the story had a happy ending. Thanks for the like

A commemorative poem by Julie was read,
In remembrance of the mole who was now dead.
At the funeral he was buried in a hole for a mole,
And to heaven he was transmitted ,poor soul.
Efforts were made to keep mole alive,
But in our hearts mole, you will always survive.
