The Being in the Cloud
She admires the sky as it begins to brew
The pressure builds as it darkens in color
It tries to hold the storm inside itself; it attempts to hold the weight alone
As the storm within itself grows, it begins to drop the heavier it gets
Drip, drip, drip; the pressure, the weight of the storm has overcome the strength it once had
The storm was too much for the cloud to withstand alone; it had to give
The drops are released from the skies cooling her warm, rosy cheeks as they splash off her face
The storm spreads onto anyone within a short distance
Many begin to pay the price because the cloud was not strong enough to ride out the storm it created inside itself
This weakness advances from a drip to a pour
The storm unleashes itself on everyone in sight as it always seems to for her
She tries to keep her storm at bay, but the banks always give way
The pressure within her becomes overwhelming, until her rain is mixed with the rain of the clouds
The rain of her storm rolls down her cheeks mixing with the rain from above
As the tears fall, the dive from her chin crashing against her chest
Where does one storm begin and the other finish
The solitude she maintains to keep others safe from her storm isn’t always enough protection
She will always put them first, even at the cost of herself
The shield she puts around herself has never been for her, it has always been for their safety
She protects them from her destruction; that’s the way it has always been
What day will she realize others don’t need her protection, and she is only kidding herself
The protection she had created many years ago was never for anyone else; it’s always been for herself
She just couldn’t admit that to herself
She pushes everyone else out of her circle until she suffers alone
She is not the guardian who shelters others from the harm she can cause
It is the protection of herself by others
If nobody hands her the umbrella, nobody can take it away from her
If nobody gives her boots, she will never know what it is like to get her dry feet wet and cold
If she never experiences the good, then the bad won’t destroy her
She is the being in the cloud
The being that is hurting herself and everyone around because she cannot let go
Let go of the storm and stop living in the cloud
