Dead End

This world will out survive us,
of that you can be sure.
it's seen so many species lost,
so we will be just one more.

Many are the meteors,
that have come and left their mark,
dealing death blows to the dinosaurs,
recreated for us in Jurassic park.

Damage caused by nature,
killed even more than man,
for yes, we've seen off the dodo
and many of us understand,
that changes we are making,
just through mans endless greed,
will see more species to their end,
but without us they would succeed.

So no matter how we look at it,
or choose words to express our fears,
this old world we are a living on,
won't say farewell with tears,
for it's mountains and it's oceans,
will be changing ever more,
and if some life still inhabits here,
it won't be forever, that is sure.

This world is not the one that's dying,
for it will evolve in a miriad ways,
until the very sun burns out,
it will see so many days....

I would say those are quite ominous musings - you haven't just read the Rapture by any chance?
I like your ideas - as you say, nothing lasts forever, not even our sun... man is just an insignificant grain of sand in the universe ... a cheery thought for a Sunday morning! xx
