Ode To Trump-Land

In a place not far away,

a place they call Trump-land.

Where the leader of that place is called,

liar,

cheat,

corrupt,

or worse, on a bad day in Trump-land.

Some of his subjects have been heard to say,

that he has abused the sacred office he holds.

Worse, say some, that he has suborned the institutions of Government.

These days are the darkest of days, in Trump-land.

The place called Trump-land has a mountain range,

with two peaks.

The smaller of the two has been named,

Allegations of collusion, and

the second,

Investigate Joe Biden.

There lives in Trump-land a mountaineer,

his name being Robert Mueller who,

sought to climb these peaks.

His aim?

To get a better view.

A view of 2016 and Russian assistance in an election campaign.

Of the second mountain he sought to find,

A better view of the Ukraine,

and to find if the leader of Trump-land had sought to engage,

that leaders support in the investigation of Biden,

Joe, that is.

In his first encounter he failed to find collusion,

choosing to use public service over private gain,

he did find honesty and rectitude in himself.

Whereas the leader became more infamous,

in his dishonesty and his greed, some said.

Whereas Mueller had one wife,

the leader he had three.

Many business associates he had,

but friends,

very few.

It became a gunfight, and Mueller,

he had brought only his knife.

In search of the second peak as said,

he searched for signs of coercion in the Ukraine for the investigation of Biden,

Joe that is.

He looked for phone calls by the leader to his friends.

He looked for military aid, which was to be withheld.

Mueller, he looked incompetent.

Mueller, he lost all knowledge,

his wisdom and his values.

A fiasco was,

preordained.

In a place not far away.

A place they call Trump-land.

Where the leader of that place was more about himself,

than what he might achieve.

Now the only verdict is,

that which has ever mattered in Trump-land,

It’s the one that’s rendered on Election Day.

'Whatever we may think of him we can't argue with democracy' ... I fear Trump plans to, if the result goes against him.

I believe that oppositions to Trump tried to play him far to quick. There was a rush to get him investigated and/or impeached prior to the election as they fear he might just win again. Which he may well do as he builds up a frightening picture to the electorate of life under his opponents. The evidence against him in both these instances was more perceived than real I think. Poetically I was trying to portray these attempts to undermine Trump and the shambolic outcomes of both.
The starting point for his critics and I would include myself as one of those. Is that it starts from the premise of guilty as charged and unravels from there as the evidence is never found to support it. Good luck, or innocent to the charge I'm not sure. As you have said, the jury will be the final arbiter in due course. For better, or for worse.

If a media tally was kept, I wonder what the ratio would be when
counting reports for and against President Trump? Impartiality
seems to have been mislaid somewhere down the information highway and the cult of "personality" adopted as a guide to what
is considered appropriate for dissemination to the public at large.
The approaching US election is the deciding factor - after all the
other stuff has been paraded to persuade or dissuade. Interesting
times indeed. I think it may be premature to
write off Trump's chances. The media is far from infallible on such things. Just bear in mind the famously wrong front page headline proclaiming that Thomas Dewey had won that particular presidential election.

Democratically elected, soon to be voted out of office...or perhaps re-elected. Whatever we may think of him we can't argue with democracy.
