Tree Stump---a poem by O.L.Buzzerd

When you get old

you repeat yourself

you say the same dang thing

over and over

until finally people get tired of hearin' it

and walk away

some even run when they see you comin'

they'd just as soon listen to static

but that's okay

by the time you get my age

it's all been said anyway

so it's best

to just not say anything at all

and sit there like a tree stump and listen

sit there like a tree stump and listen

like I say

I repeat myself.

---O.L. Buzzerd

(forgetting is sometimes a blessing)
