Lodged In The Mind
A dip in the sand caught a pool of sea,
When the tide came in and went out again.
The pool of sea caught a ray of sun,
And it seemed like a star had been caught on Earth,
But a moment later all was gone.
A child ran forward to see what it was,
That shone so brightly from out of the dirt.
Little feet,
Kicking up sand,
Ran themselves through a dip in the ground.
And it seemed like the jewel had vanished from sight
To be lodged in the mind.

Thank you Stephen. I'm really happy that you took the time to comment, much appreciated. It is one of the poems that I sometimes question why did I write this at all, why did I write it as I did, etc. Because the theme or personal purpose is quite obscure so it didn't really fight its way to be written, it just sort of fell onto the page but over the years apart from a few words here and there it stayed more or less the same. And a bit like a special memory, or song, the more I met the poem the harder it became to work out whether it was truly good or just familiar.
