A Reflection
The man in the mirror
No longer looks like me
His best years are behind him
There's nothing more to see
His daughter is a woman
With family of her own
The years now seem to fade away
Into the bleak unknown
Although I'll keep on dreamin'
Of better things to come
Sometimes I feel like runnin' free
Into the rising sun
A slither of a silhouette
Against a sea of gold
Off to seek those youthful dreams
Still nestled in my soul
But there's a smile that lights the room
A hand that fits in mine
I know, will always be there
'til the end of our time
There's a roof above our heads
And food upon our table
And friends & family visit
Whenever they are able
Laughter still frequents the air
Hugs and kisses reign
My daughter's smile still lifts me up
With a love I can't explain
So as I watch the sunrise
I no longer want to flee
For all I have, is all I am
And all I am is me.
