Prince Philip the Duke of Edinburgh a hero of mine,

Passed away this week at the age of ninety nine.

He was Her Majesty's strength and stay,

Devastating to think he's passed away !

 

He was always at the heart of national life,

A star for our country and a support for his  wife.

The monarchy's champion always looking ahead,

Hardworking,as sharp as a pin,extremely well read.

 

A supporting husband to a powerful Queen,

For advice,on her shoulder he has always been.

His formidable intelligence and prophetic gift,

Through  many Duke of Edinburgh Awards,young hearts he did lift.

 

In Windsor Castle the Duke will be laid to rest,

Her Majesty's protector,simply the best !

Goodnight but never goodbye,

In our memories he will keep in touch,

Stay strong your Majesty,we love you so much.
