Why Poetry

What is it?

About what I went through in earlier times

That makes me want to write about them

With a flowing rhythm in rhyme

Why is it?

The focus always seems to be about negativity

And the painful pitfalls of our society

Of moral injusticies encountered by me that are a crime

How is it?

I remember the times that were good

But, so often feeling sad, only write about times that were bad

I could write happier, however, my lousy life is far from sublime

The leading lessons that I have learned

Are those from when life has left me burned

Poetry is a release that gives my mind peace

Making hiking up lifes hill, not such a lonely climb

So... Happy or not, that is why I write poetry a lot

And for it, I do not expect to earn a dime

Thank-you to all that are reading my attempts at poetry. And of course thanks for the likes and comments.

KJ is spot on - as is usual in his various comments.
Cathartic is correct in many ways - and the challenge of finding the
right words remains as engrossing as ever. That choice is so
often the "conjurer's sleight of hand" in its effect on our senses -
and our memories. .

Poetry is often cathartic in nature. When it is used in such a way some of the most profound human emotions come into play. Poetry is a means of personal expression, a release of feelings, thoughts, regrets and a voice of dissent in the face of injustice.

I enjoyed this
Thankyou

Keith
