Woodland Dell
Down in the woodland dell
beneath tall, slender trees
lies a deep blue carpet
that quivers on the breeze
Sunlight filters through and
shadows cast on the ground
the shallow stream sparkles
plays a soft, soothing sound
The mossy fallen tree
is the place where I rest
brush through feathered ferns
my hearts slows in my chest
I close my eyes and breathe
and relax for a while
my worries float away
frown replaced with a smile
The sun is warm and high
clouds float across blue skies
above the forest floor
dance fairy butterflies
In my mind I hear them
sing melodies in rhyme
to tunes played on bluebells
that do not ring or chime
This space I escape to
where peace and quiet is found
time spent in this enchanting place
leaves me spellbound
Each spring we are blessed
as the magic is unfurled
when Mother Nature gifts us
a new wonder of the world
