What is a Tringe?
Only Preston’s premier arts festival, that’s what. And after a successful launch last year, it’s back: better even than it was before – bigger, bouncier, sleeker, and even more suave. The Tringe runs from 24th July to 1st August.
There’s comedy, theatre, dance, physical theatre, and – sneaking in through the back door, as usual – a smidgeon of good ole spoken word. Of particular interest to poetry fans will be Welcome to the UK! by Manchester’s amiably hirsute ‘monkey poet’ Matt Panesh; The Top Ten of Popular Culture by winsome beat-poetry duo Project Adorno (‘Stunning’ – says Record Collector magazine) – more about them coming shortly; then there’s Lancashire Writing Hub’s Word Soup show, and a showcase gig featuring Alan Dent, Cynthia Kitchen and Terry Quinn.
Tickets for all shows are available from Preston Tourist Information Centre or 01772 253731. You can also buy a day pass (£10) or a festival pass (£30). The first ensures entry to all shows on a given day; the latter covers every show in the whole dang Tringe.
When buying your day and festival pass you are advised to reserve tickets for all shows you know you want to see at the same time...to avoid disappointment if they are sell outs!
