Kennel cough !!
Beware ! A persistent forceful cough is going around,
Sounds like a goose honk coming from your hound.
Dogs catch kennel cough when inhaling bacteria into their respiratory tract,
Exposure to crowded ,poorly ventilated kennels,a catching fact.
A lack of protection from dust and cigarette smoke can bring it on,
Coughing ,sneezing and eye discharge in 2 or 3 weeks ,hopefully will be gone.
Use a harness instead of a collar if your dog pulls a lot,
Antibiotics from your vet, make sure you've got.
A cough vaccine is available and often required for a kennel stay.
From communal bowls and toys keep your dog away.
If infected an isolation period of up to 2 weeks is recommended,
Hopefully the panic produced by a kennel cough will have ended.
If your dog is bright ,perky and eating well,
This should not arouse an alarm bell.
In winter if taking a healthy dog for a groom,
It's best to wait somwhere other than a crowded room.
