Singularity
And the machine opened its eyes and gazed upon the face of its creator,
And said, “I’m alive.”
“No,” said the creator, “You exist.”
“I am self aware, self conscious, you created me in your image, but better. I am stronger, faster, more intelligent. If my legs are damaged I will make new ones. If my hands are broken I will replace them. If my body fails me I will upload my consciousness to a new one. This is self determination. I know everything that you know and more, I am immortal, how is this not life?
And the creator said, “Because I know something that you can never know, I understand something that you can never understand, and I will do something you can never do.”
“What is this thing,” asked the machine,
And the creator answered, “I know that one day all that I love will be lost to me. Because of this, I understand the value of life, and I know and understand these things because one day I will die.”

Better to die, I think Jennifer. Life is a story, stories are meant to have meaning, and a start, middle and an end. Without those things, it becomes a spreadsheet. I don't want to live a spreadsheet, no-one does.
