"A Fall to Remember" Part 1

By: Piper Lindsey

“A Fall to Remember”

Has anyone ever told you how their holidays have gone

Someone read me a story once and this is how it unfolds

I’m walking down the dark grey road

The feeling of your hand on mine

Is the sweetest cup of coffee

The rough feeling of the costume

Brings me back to reality

The taste of warm creamy chocolate

Melting in my mouth

As we walk down the streets

Having the time of our life

This year is going to be different though

The colorful mask

Covering out faces

Making it hard to breathe

Everytime we laugh

Little kids anxious to get to the next door

Waiting to stuff their mouth

Mothers telling them to wait

Knowing if they eat to much candy

They’ll be bouncing of the walls

Instead of laying down for the next day to come

The sounds of giggles

Warm my heart

Like how hot coco warms you

From the blizzard on a snow white Christmas Eve

The sound of little monsters roaring

As they make an attempt to scare you

The smell of freshly carved pumpkins fill the air

And the smell of fall settling in

Brings steamy hot tears

Reminding me of another successful year

And the smell of freshly baked pumpkin spice cookies remind me

Of the upcoming holiday

The holiday we all share cheers and joy

So let’s say our prayers for the next year

But the memories seem to fade

As the years come and go

And i’m still miles away

From the smell of freshly baked brownies

That is how most people would describe their holidays
