New Year, No New News
It’s New Years Eve, the last day of twenty, twenty one
This time last year, we were hoping Covid would soon be gone
One year forward and the news is very much the same
Covid still makes the headlines a new variant is to blame
We pinned our hopes on the vaccine to bring an end at last
But the rates are rising, it’s spreading across the nation, fast
Infection rates are at their highest, doubling overnight
We are not in lockdown yet, but by tomorrow we might
Mixed messages, each country has it’s own rules in place
England is relying on the good old…..hands, face, space
As we welcome the new year, let’s hope the news will be new too
Here’s hoping for brighter days ahead, through twenty, twenty two
Who knows what the future holds, will we ever be Covid free?
Will Covid still make the headlines, in twenty, twenty three?

Keith is spot on. This poem sums up what most people fear and accomplishes it very skilfully.
Hope 2022 is good for you.
Thanks, Julie.
