IT'S JUNE IN JANUARY

"It's June in January"...so goes the old song -

And if written in 1661 wouldn't seem far wrong!

Love and Nature keep us spinning around

Or so old Samuel Pepys once found.

On January the twenty first of that year

That famous diarist of this earthly sphere

Dipped pen in ink in those days of yore

To record the startling things he saw.:

.............................................................

""It is strange what weather.we have had.." he began

(Obviously amazing that methodical man)

"No cold at all, but the ways are all dusty..." -

In wondering words far removed from fusty

He continued, clearly warming to his theme -

"The flyes fly up and down (they teem!)

"And the rose bushes are full of leaves.(well grown),

"Such a time of the year as was never known

In this world before here."  sage Samuel wrote

For a world three centuries hence to note!
