Leighton Moss
A delightful trip today
to nearby Leighton Moss Reserve
A wetland and nature trail
with so much wildlife to observe
In a clear blue, cloudless sky
the sun shined high and very bright
A day to lift your spirits
a most welcome treat and delight
A heavy frost overnight
left patches of ice on the ground
The warmth of the sun felt good
when a sunny spot came around
We forgot our bino’s
and the packet of wild bird seed
But that didn’t stop us
from watching on as they came to feed
The landscape was amazing
tall, wispy reeds lined the pathway
The lakes still partly frozen
even though the sun shone all day
We saw lots of feathered friends
we didn’t recognise them all
We met some helpful folk though
who knew each one just from their call
We are total novices
but we spotted a few we know
We hope with regular trips
our knowledge will grow and grow
Our first trip to Leighton Moss
a great way to spend the day
Next time we will pack a bag
with all the things we forgot today
We joined the RSPB
whilst on our visit today
Now we can visit again for free
each and every day

Julie,
Another well described scene of mother nature and joy it brings to us all.
Thank you for this
