The Wandering Wise Woman.
The wandering wise woman
Gives her words for free
Winding through life
She walks with elegant ease
This is a woman who-
No longer feels the need to please
Preferring only to talk to the trees
Not for her
The malaise of blind acceptance
A life time of learning
Informs her well
She cuts her own pattern
She tacks her own line
Crafts her own dance
Leaving nothing to chance
Having walked east to west
For many a long year
She has overcome
The fear
Shed an ocean
Full of tears
Learned to beat
Her own drum
Hums her melodic tune
Under the full moon
Light glinting
On her bare chest
She chants her own rhyme
If you listen closely
You’ll hear her song on the breeze
It beckons you to rest
Under the weeping
Willow tree
If by happenstance
You meet her
Please say hello
Her sunny disposition
Belies many woes
Although she would
Never, ever
Tell you so
Take time to know her
Look into her eyes
It’s then you will notice
The scars left
By life
She will hold out a hand
To offer you care
She sees you are
Traveling
The same road as her
She sees you falter
Unsure of your steps
But she has walked them already
Her footprints are there
She beckons you softly
With strength in her heart
The path is confusing
Winding and turning
All direction is lost
Debris of life has cut some ways off
But if you look very closely
And never give up
New clearings have formed
New growth is beginning
On the light dabbled path
The wandering wise woman
Is there by your side
Soon she will leave
To weave her own way
She can give you direction
Point to the light
Still on reflection
She knows only you, can choose
To take flight.
Wisdom is earned
With time and courage
It doesn’t come easy
The pearl takes a lifetime
To polish
But once it is won
You will shimmer iridescently
Pass on the knowledge
So your sparkle lasts
For all eternity.
