SEWER CONVERSION

A sewage worker was born again

finding Jesus down the drain

a moment of light and truth of sorts

where the underworld contorts.

Breathing methane was the cause

yet still an event to give us pause

he underwent a strange conversion

after seeing the browning version.

As above so below

where even common faecal flow

can bring a man to God it seems

who specializes in such extremes.

(The Browning Version:  a play by Terence Rattigan

unconnected with the poem except by rhyming allusion)

Thanks so much John, Rudyard, Aviv, Holden and Russell for your likes.

Greg, agreed!
Thanks a lot Martin.
Haha Stephen, wow.
They do make uneasy bedfellows Stephen A.
Love that John, self evident I know but still made me chortle. I did post this on facebook!

Thought I'd read this somewhere before. Facebook. Good as gold Ray. Once knew a guy who worked on a sewage farm. Always got served first in the pub.

Great one, Ray. The browning version is priceless, if not odourless.
