Staged Event

It wasn’t that complicated,

But it had to be authentic.

No point in actors playing dead.

Think about it! They’ll sneeze or twitch

As the cameras start rolling

And give the whole damn game away.

Luckily we had true patriots,

Prepared to sacrifice their lives,

Ready to jump in plastic bags

And take a bullet in the head.

Thousands were queueing round the block.

Cheered on by happy families.

Who else would perform such a stunt?

Enemies are such nice people.

Absolutely stunning Stephen. I agree with Leon. Poem of the week, if not the month!

Thank you for your kind comment, Holden. Yes, the tragedy of this is that many people would believe it and take it at face value.

And thanks to M.C., Brenda, Pete and Clare for the likes.

This is masterfully composed, Stephen, and conveys the tragedy in such a poignant way!

Many thanks for your positive response to this poem, Greg, Leon and Julie. Your kind comments mean a lot to me. Thanks to Rudyard to the like.

I was slightly nervous about putting this on, but I hope I have channelled my anger into some element of irony and satire. The attempts to blame Ukraine would be almost comic if the actions in question were not so horrible.

This poem bowled me over Stephen. I have written a poem as my comment. No comparison but it was influenced by this brilliant write. 👏🏻👏🏻
