Her Word was her Bond.
Whether her life was short or long,
She pledged her service to the nation,
And the Queen was as good as her word.
All our lives she was always ‘The Queen!’
Intelligent, impartial and serene.
When she was needed, The Queen was there.
She even 'looked after' dear Paddington bear!
Remaining steadfast, loyal and true,
A rock upon which we could all depend,
A lifeboat in our stormy seas,
Until the very end.
You epitomised the best of us:
Calm, honest, funny, and kind.
You rode out your familial storms,
With an, outwardly, untroubled mind.
‘Wartime spirit’ was your constant refrain.
We will treasure your memory, ma’am,
Until we meet again.

Nice title, John, and a lovely tribute.
