The Global Elite

The Global Elite

(in praise of localization)

Monsters in high places,

with echoes of indifference.

Skilled in nepotism and ubridled greed.

A crucible of liquid gold.

The poor are collateral damage.

Cradled in luxury.

Consumed by vast wealth.

Authors of deprivation.

Reaping the harvest of others.

A global menace.

Suborners of governments.

The enemy of democracy.

Environmental saboteurs.

Masters of plastic.

The foes of the natural world.

Exploiters extraordinaire.

Racists and national discriminators.

The instigators of poverty.

Despisers of the poor.

Masters of deceit.

Dark forces behind veils.

Homes in towers,

built of ivory and gold.

Liars beyond compare.

Heralds of environmental destruction.

Silhouettes of doom.

May they be expunged from the global stage.

A just society should not have to rely on philanthropy...one cannot justify deliberately cruel, callous, calculated Inequality, which is currently being used as a weapon in UK society and elsewhere.

Wealth in and of itself is not a problem...compared to my ancestors of 300 years ago, I'm rich beyond their wildest dreams.

It's the love of money for its own sake, which is at the root of many evils in society.

I like the passion of this Keith; rampant inequality is a major problem. It's important to call out the real 'elites' (e.g. Donald Trump and friends) and not the populist idea (someone who thinks differently to me and has taken the trouble to be reasonably well educated).

I think this poem nails it.

Wealth, like the gun, is not in itself a danger; That lies in the hands of the owner and the way it is used. Philanthropy was
a feature of other days, a payback to the society that enabled
its creation and possession. We could do with a lot of that now!
