Bare soul

Me, I, myself

Words so self absorbing

Obsessed about oneself

This is what we learn

In our materialistic world

Pride inculcated early

With every rank and degree

Looking down upon others

Who were weak academically

Chapters evil imbibed by every child daily

Ego superimposed self respect

Difference between the two

Only wisest can construe

Most of us worshipping oneself

In the name of self respect

It's ego that break relationships

Discord that's unresolved

Gratifying our own arrogance

Imposing our dignified self

Extorting respect in the name of self respect

Arrogance and haughtiness inbuilt in our system

Even if we possess nothing worth a dime

We our still boastful of our achievements

Trying to create a magnificent perspective

In the eyes of neighbours, friends and family

Boasting about the materialistic things

Whether earned legally or illegally

Spending luxuriously on things fancy

Glittering, glimmering world to be

Inside of us poor, diseased, evil and lonely

No morals to teach

No values to perceive

Introspecting our true self

Cleaning what's dirty within

That's what we all really need

Value yourself
As others do
Achieve understanding
Bare your soul
Inside poetry
You always do.❤

Brings to mind John Lennon's song crippled inside.
One thing you can't hide is when your crippled inside.
You packed a lot in this one. Great poem.
