Bridging the gap
Walls, sturdy structures, built with care
Made of brick and mortar, wood and sawdust
Standing tall, dividing spaces everywhere
Necessary for our lives, we've learned to trust
They keep us safe, keep us apart
Separating rooms of difference
But when they crumble, it breaks our heart
And our lives are turned into dissonance
Yet walls are not just in buildings raised
But between two people, they can exist
When relationships end and love fades
Fear, hurt, and pain, barriers persist
These walls, built from fear and pride
Keep us distant, keep us apart
From those we once stood by, side by side
Ripping away love, tearing at the heart
We think we're protecting what's inside
But really, we're holding ourselves back
For walls can also keep love, trapped inside
And slowly, it fades away, dull and lackluster
Walls, strong and unbreakable they seem
But they can also hold us in their grip
Not allowing us to chase our dreams
Or grow and learn from our mistakes, bit by bit
It's better to let the bridges break and burn
When trust and honesty no longer reign
For love cannot flourish, cannot return
When walls of fear and doubt remain
So let these walls come crashing down
In buildings, and in hearts too
And maybe, just maybe, we'll have found
A love that's pure, and walls are not due.
In this world of walls, we must find a way
To break down the barriers, to let love sway
For it is in the freedom of connection we find release
To tear down these walls, to give our hearts peace
Let love and understanding be the bricks we deploy
To build a world without walls, where hearts can enjoy.
