A Sea Glass Heart
It was once a useful bottle
or maybe a bowl, shiny and new
Sparkling and glistening brightly
as the morning sunlight shimmered through
Discarded when some fine cracks appeared
cast into the deep, blue ocean
Tossed around by turbulent tides
polished by the tumbling motion
Carried along on the ebb and flow
brought safely to the sandy shore
Allowed to settle for a moment
before it’s swept away once more
Rough edges are smoothed and softened
remodelled and refined over time
A broken piece of old tableware
now holds a beauty so sublime
The long journey is finally over
it lies resting on the ground
An enchanting gem of sea glass treasure
waits patiently to be found
