Politicians make fools of us
but today we can celebrate
for the coming of Spring is beyond their reach
when jesters come out of hiding
ride the waves of success
revealed by roots and shoots
emerging into greenery.
The fool knows who to worship
with his bells and silly grin,
for today he wears a crown
so don't mess with him, don't try
to take him down
for he is in truth the Green Man
the greenest man in town.

Yes David, the Fool carries a lot on his celestial shoulders maybe too much for an idiot - but then are we as wise as we all think we are, especially those who use this site - oops!

It's interesting to me how pagan traditions transitioned into Christian ideas, not surprising or unusual but interesting.
Rebirth, resurrection, maybe the fool is making a more subtle point?
Who is the fool and who the fooled, who has the ear of The King?
