The Watery Snare
Into deep water my car swam.
Floated just like as discarded can.
By a Widnes Bridge, a scary ride.
A very nervous Ploy, by my side.
We escaped from the watery snare.
My car gargled and gasped for air.
Hissing, blowing off puffs of steam.
We pulled away from the stream.
This deluge I had no chance to avert.
No flood warnings, no signs of alert.
I lifted the bonnet, let the engine dry.
But the rain still poured from the sky.
I drove the car home, safe and slow.
That was on Tuesday, now 4 days ago.
But that watery grave had left its mark!
My Fiesta won’t start, no life, no spark.
Too expensive to repair, I’ve been told.
It that condition, my car can’t be sold.
Thanks to that perilous waterlogged trap.
My car has no value, only good to scrap!

The car can be replaced but your safe escape has a value that
is beyond "write off". Scary experience though!
P.S. It might be worth getting a 2nd opinion about the car's repair prospects, not least when you see what can be brought back into use on some TV motoring programmes.
